'Points of Contact: Jim Allen, Len Lye, Hélio Oiticica is an important project on two related counts. Firstly, it brings together three artists whose works have not been seen together before, on the basis of formal, philosophical and historical links that exist amongst them, which are documented here for the first time, the purpose being to establish an alternative narrative within the mainstream trajectory of 20th-century art. Secondly, it provides the context for the re-creation and re-staging of key works by the New Zealand artist who pioneered post-object art in this country, Jim Allen (born 1922), thus ensuring his exposure to new generations and creating connections that link it to the wider frame of experimental art practice as it unfolded across the globe in the volatile period of the late 1960s and early 1970s.'
